Hi Kevin,
What a great definition of FEAR! I am sure the readers will copy this one down. I need to publish your remarks in the real estate section of the Sunday paper so the consumers will have something more to consider than "the blood in the street" that seems to be the general topic of the day regarding real estate. All markets are local, and our local market is alive and well. We just had two more of our listings go into escrow in Danville yesterday - smart buyers who did not listen to the Wall Street Journal, but ones who were paying attention to the market and the mortgage rates. The time is NOW for buyers.

Fear is an easy one to figure out...

Pay no attention to the media.

If you are buying a home, buy what you can afford. Shop sensibly, in any market. If you are a long term investor, you are always better off owning your own home. Once the news media decides to report the market is finally "positive" the bargains and great values will already be gone.

Good work Jim!

Hey Kirk,
Thank you for your thoughtful comments. We need to meet soon so we can explore this topic further. If you don't mind, I will take your comments and use them in some of my further postings regarding how FEAR is also impacting Realtors, not just Buyers and Sellers. You will be hearing from me. Enjoy your fearless day.

Jim,

This is exactly the message that needs to be shouted
from the rooftops in our area. Fear is not only a
paralyzing factor with the home buyer but with many of
the real estate agents.

If this is the worst market in 30 years, as some media
would have people believe, then with a depreciation
rate of 1-3%, it's a pretty safe place to invest. It
sure beats buying Countrywide stock at their 52 week
high.

There are so many positives about this market that are
not being reflected in the media. It's one of the
reasons I chose this specific area to launch this new
concept. The people that will make money in this
market, agents and consumers, are the people that see
the opportunities where others see only problems.

Fear is like fire, too much and it will burn your
house down...
